January Is HERE!

Alright, I always dislike it when a new year starts in the middle of the week. It was SO confusing to stay up til midnight on a Wednesday last week. So, if you have slacked off the first 4 days of 2015, let's pretend tomorrow is the first real day back into a normal routine!

Boot camp is at 5am tomorrow morning - don't forget! If you're local, you can always come by for a free class and try it out. I also have a couple of other classes at the gym you can come to. Check out my personal facebook page (friend me first to see my schedule!) for details on those!

Finally, it's REALLY close to the time to get that online tool information to you. I am on pins and needles for the announcement! Here are some details I can share (totally not my own wording, I absolutely plagiarized it):

The launch of the new My Plan tool and online offerings I will begin to provide in 2015. This will be a great opportunity for you to experience even greater results with your Fitness plan!

Women, Men and even Corporations can have:
- Customized Nutrition based on your goals
- Weekly Grocery Lists to help keep you on track
- Completely Mobile Friendly – easy to use and navigate
- Thousands of recipes based on what you’ve got in the kitchen
- Articles based on what your specific fitness goals are
- 3-D Imaging giving you a view of your body shape and a calendar of when goals will be reached
- Better results with added accountability!

How 'bout them apples?

So what are your fitness goals for January? Leave me a comment and let me know what small changes you're making this month to get to the place you'd like to be in December.

Kickin Off 2015 - But, first, a look back

I got so busy in 2014 pursuing my own fitness dreams that I never officially started this blog as I intended. I am happy to report that I spent 2014 getting into fitness full time, personal training clients with my Garland Northeast Texas Fit Chicks boot camp, teaching a KAZILLION classes a week for various gyms, and spending more time with my kids and husband.

2015 brings another exciting opportunity as I am going to be able to offer online tools to help EVERYONE with their fitness goals this year! Details will be following soon! But it will be a complete wellness tool, workouts tuned to fit your fitness needs, meal planning (grocery lists and recipes!) and accountability. You can track your fitness goals as you achieve them. You can set future goals. It will track your calorie burn and intake. Finally, I will be your personal trainer via the tool!!

I am teaching/training locally here in the Dallas area, so please reach out to me to find out my schedule and come be my guest for a free workout or two! If you're interested in the online training, you don't even have to be local. Stay tuned for the info.

Looking back into 2014, I have made some personal fitness progress. I am not really one for posting before and after pics of myself online for complete public view. Maybe once I hit the tanning bed again. :) But, from July 2013-July 2014 I had lost 13 lbs and done a LOT of toning! I am in maintenance right now, and working on cleaning up our whole family's diet. It's hard with small children, but we're working on it! We got ourselves a NutriBullet and it's helped increase our produce intake quite a bit. I love fruits and veggies, but it's hard to prep it all at once, and let's face it, I am a produce junkie. Fruits and veggies make me happy. I think it's partly all the pretty colors. But I could easily indulge in prepped fruit and cut up veggies for snacks and meals all day every day. I do need protein too!

Our personal lives have been quite crazy, and you can read more about that on my other blog Awesome Avarys. I'll keep the fitness stuff here and the personal/family silliness on my original blog. I'd love to have you following both, but want to leave it up to you.

Leave me a comment and let me know YOUR 2015 fitness goals. I'd love to help encourage you as you get healthier.

Meet Me!

Well, first post of a new blog is always a little daunting. I am really excited to be launching this blog, because it means that I am FINALLY doing what I love full time. I found a love for fitness almost 10 years ago. I was going to school and then took some time off to work and regroup. I got a job working in the childcare at a women's gym. I would link them, but sadly, they closed their doors a couple of years ago. That was like losing a home.

I was a very experienced nanny and was attending college for a degree in Communications/Journalism. I wanted to be a writer/editor. While I was working at the gym, I started working out. Hey, free gym membership! Why not? I liked it. I found that all the extra energy that kept me up at night was being channeled into something new. It was great.

Eventually, I started working extra hours out on "the floor" selling membership and products and generally providing assistance where needed. I started taking classes and was trained by the gym to teach their circuit classes. Then they sent us to a weekend training for instructors to learn new formats and workouts. I met TurboKick that weekend, and I fell deeply in love with it. I got my certification a couple of months later. I eventually pursued my Primary Group Exercise Certification as well, and was working full time teaching classes for several different gyms. By the end of 2007, I was a little burnt out and decided to take a step back, get an office job and just teach a class or two a week. I also met my husband around the same time.

A year later, we were married and starting a family. I let my certifications lapse and continued working in the corporate world. I had two beautiful boys and constantly wondered how I would ever be as thin as I was at 21 before I had kids. Spoiler alert: I don't think that's in the cards for me. My body is different, but I am definitely in better shape than I was right after my babies were born! I won't ever be a size 0, but who really needs that anyway? :)

So, here I am. its 2014. I turn 30 this December. I have a 4 year old and an almost 2 year old. My husband runs his own garage door repair business, and I am doing my fitness thing again. I am so blessed and genuinely delighted to be back in the fitness world full time.

I am a certified Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor. I still teach TurboKick, as well! I am teaching for two different gym "brands" and I am doing In Home Personal Training. I love helping people reach their fitness goals whether its in a group setting or one on one. I hope that you will join me as I pursue fitness in my own life and that you'll allow me to support you and help you on your own pursuit of fitness!
